Oren Renick, JD, MPH, ThM, FACHE
Dr. Renick is Professor of Health Administration, Director of the Texas Long Term Care Institute, Co-Director of the Service Learning Initiative at Texas State University-San Marcos, and Adjunct Professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He previously served simultaneously as the Chair of the Department of Health Administration and Interim Chair of Health Services Research at Texas State. He has served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Faculty Senate and as Vice Chair of the Interfaith Caregivers Alliance.
Prior to coming to Texas State in 1990, Dr. Renick spent 20 years in the health care industry. He served as chief executive of three organizations, including managed care organizations in Chicago and New Orleans. Named to Who’s Who in America, Oren has been selected to present the annual Presidential Seminar, Chosen Faculty of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Scholar of the Year (College of Health Professions) and been recognized by Alpha Chi and Golden Key. Renick has secured and directed grants and contracts totaling approximately $5,000,000. Many of these have addressed quality improvement in long term care and the needs of elders and persons with disabilities.

A frequent contributor to professional journals and presenter at professional conferences, Dr. Renick’s major scholarly interests include civil rights, service-learning and civic engagement, health care law and ethics, managed health care delivery systems, and baseball and American culture. He is Executive Editor of the book on intergenerational service-learning entitled THE TIES THAT BIND.
